The Hoosier
Diamond’s Baseball Classic is conducted in June and matches some of the Midwest’s top talent, by enrollment
grade. The Classic
is an invitation only event with participant’s attending from
Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Tennessee and
Wisconsin. A one day
event that provides players with the opportunity to showcase
their talents on the baseball field.
Participants are assigned to teams by enrollment grade
and each team is coached by a college coach.
Beginning this year Hoosier
Diamond will conduct two different Classics.
Hoosier Diamond’s North Classic will be held at Indiana
Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana on June 23rd.
The
IWU baseball complex is fast developing a reputation around
college baseball as being one of the best. The beautiful grass
infield and outfield is encircled with a brick dust warning track.
Added features include: four all-weather batting tunnels,
automatic self-feed industrial pitching machine, restrooms in the
full-sized dugouts, fenced in bullpen area (3 mounds per side),
crusted brick infield, grassed baselines, elevated seating, large
pressbox with sound system, and professional quality lights. The
complex also contains a practice field next to the game facility.
Hoosier Diamond’s South
Classic will be held at Huntingburg Stadium in Huntingburg,
Indiana on July 7th, 2004.
Huntingburg Stadium has a
beautiful “Old Time” baseball stadium look.
The movie “A League Of Their Own” was filmed at
Huntingburg Stadium.
