Out Our New Showcase Format
In the past Hoosier Diamond has conducted
the Summer Showcase at
Indiana
State
University
and
Rose-Hulman
University
. This year Hoosier
Diamond has made some exciting changes to our Summer Showcase
format.
We have moved the Showcase to “The
Tournament Field” at US Athletics.
The “Tournament Field” is located in
Noblesville
,
Indiana
and is one of the finest 3 diamond, privately owned baseball
facilities in the
Midwest
. “The Tournament
Field” complex has 2 lighted diamonds, 1 unlighted diamond,
and an indoor training facility.
This year, our 12th
year conducting this event, we have invited college baseball
teams from throughout the
Midwest
to participate in an
exhibition double header during the Showcase.
When not participating in the Showcase skill evaluations,
or the Showcase games, high school participants will have the
opportunity to view college baseball at all competition levels
(Division I, II, III, NAIA, and Junior College).
320 college baseball programs representing 7 states have
been invited to participate in this event.
In addition to being able to view the
college baseball squads, each
high school participant will be evaluated by Hoosier Diamond’s
staff of Major League Baseball scouts and college coaches. During
the evaluation process our staff of college coaches and pro
baseball scouts will record radar scores, stop watch times, as
well as, evaluate hitting, fielding, and pitching performances.
This evaluation will be forwarded to each participant
after the camp. Many
players find this evaluation beneficial to marketing themselves
to college baseball programs and a great tool in determining
their own skill level.
More
than 250 college baseball programs will receive each
participant’s evaluation results, academic information and
home address. Showcase
results will also be posted on the Hoosier Diamond website.
Our website is becoming a very popular recruiting tool
for college coaches.
High School participants will also
participate in a Showcase double header (weather permitting).
Conducting the Hoosier Diamond Showcase in
this format is breaking new ground in college baseball
recruiting in the
Midwest
. The
opportunity for a high school baseball player to market
themselves to college baseball coaches is tremendous.
Who should attend the Summer Baseball
Showcase?
Any high school player that has a desire to play college
baseball. Juniors and Seniors DO NOT HESITATE! Remember, you do
not have to be a "blue chipper" to benefit from this
camp. Division I, II, III and Junior College programs will be
evaluating your results.
What about the Freshman and
Sophomores?
College coaches have told us that they are excited to see
"young" upcoming players. Thousands of high school
baseball players in the Midwest have a desire to play college
baseball. For freshmen and sophomores this is an excellent
opportunity to start the recruiting process by getting your name
and skills known!
